Student Events

Lamp lighting ceremony is a solemn occasion conducted once in a year, before the first year student starts her clinical practice. During the lamp lighting ceremony the students receive the light from the dignitaries and this lighting of the lamp is done in front of the teachers and parents as a sign of confirming their commitment to pursue Nursing as their career. The Nightingale pledge and KG hospital’s mission statement is also taken as an oath. They wear their uniform for the first time.

Freshers day is an official welcome given to the first year students by the senior students and is celebrated every year in the presence of the faculty. It encourages welcoming of first year students in a friendly atmosphere and to encourage their creative impulses to boost their confidence. A new name is given to the batch. The program also includes exciting games, joy, laughter and happiness.

Sports is a very important part of education because it makes students disciplined. KG College organizes Annual sports Day to encourage the students to achieve their own dreams.The sports day is inaugurated by releasing balloons and doves. Sports events like throw ball, shuttle, 100mtrs relay, etc are conducted for the students. Medals and Prizes are distributed to the students for the winners in the competition.

“Meditation is the golden key to all mysteries of life”. Meditation changes the Student’s Body, Mind and Soul. Every morning the students do yoga which is taught by our Physical Director. Yoga helps clear the mind, which can give students a break from the constant social atmosphere of college.

Annual conference, which is either national level or state level, is the common forum to all students and faculty for gaining knowledge, scientific discussions and exchanging latest innovations and practices within the field of health sciences. KG college organizes a department wise conference every year. Experienced and knowledgeable experts in that specialty are invited as resource persons. Credit points are allotted by the Tamilnadu Nursing Council and also the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. Certificate of participation is given to the students.

KG College organizes various events based on the health days by the world health organization, such as World Breastfeeding Day, World Kidney Day etc, and also other events of importance to health sciences. The students take active part by displaying exhibitions, conducting rally and role plays in the community/ hospital. To create awareness the students also conduct debate and perform mime.

College of Health Sciences, has been providing high quality continuing healthcare education for our students through seminars and workshops. These initiatives result in passionate interaction and active participation among students, boosting their skills and expertise. These focus on multi-disciplinary, evidence-based and clinically relevant topics.

Involvement In Government/ Non Government Organized Programs: The students of KG College participate in various rallies thatare organized by the government or non-government associations. Recently, KG College along with Rotary club of Coimbatore organized a rally to create awareness on Anti-child labor, with the theme of “CHILDREN SHOULD NOT WORK IN THE FIELD, BUT ON DREAMS”

A Farewell is a celebration to celebrate the success of the senior class. The day of farewell is special for the teachers, seniorstudents , and junior students, who organize the function for the outgoing class.

Graduation ceremonies are of course a significant milestone. They symbolize the culmination of years of endeavor and effort. It marks both an ending and a beginning.The Graduation ceremony of KG College of Health Sciences includes all the degree courses and is conducted every year. Getting dressed in traditional academic regalia with a convocation stole and walking up the stage for holding that prestigious convocation file is the dream of every student.
